Co-founded in 1998 by Mr. Omowale Luthuli and the late Mr. Clarence Brooks, the International Youth Friendship & Development Program (IYFDP) is made up of dedicated Houston-area volunteers who have created a community for mentorship, friendship, and education through travel and outreach experience.  We provide cutting edge service learning opportunities for high school age youth. Students' involvement include some of the following issues:

• Curbing the spread of HIV-AIDS. I Stand with Clarence is an online (social media) and school-neighborhood project to multiply the number of youth practicing responsible sexuality.

• Combatting Hunger and Homelessness

• Trafficking in Women and Children

• Preventing Ethnic Cleansing and Genocide

• Preventing Gender Violence and Rape

 

The International Youth Friendship and Development Program (“IYFDP”) engages youth in global travel workshops that educate, enrich, and empower young adults while fostering cross-cultural friendships among young generations that can bring about peace among future generations.

 

Through the International Youth Travel Seminar, students participate in educational outreach and cultural programming to bring attention to health, social and educational problems around the world. A campaign for peace, justice, conflict resolution, and human rights is a major component for student learning. This program also provides global peer education opportunities to help reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS worldwide.
